So if anyone's reading this and doesn't know me at all. Here's what I am: a computer science & engineering undergrad (forget the engineering part, i didnt learn shit from it and i didnt like it) whose plan is to work in the future and see if I find any interest in certain topics for comp sci. If I don't, I was gonna shoot for an MBA in the future because my dad is himself a business man and I feel like I wouldn't be too bad in business but I don't know that either.
In short, I didn't do comp sci until end of high school and then college I randomly chose the major cuz I thought it was kind of fun and not too bad in high school. I ended up getting owned in college because the classes were so difficult and then when I started searching for jobs, it was so stressful because all the job fair people would expect you to have personal projects and experience. That's impossible for people like me who just started computer science. A lot of us have no time outside the classroom and some of us ended up failing the classes. I actually did pretty good but again, I was wondering about how to even find jobs or internships.
It turns out, it's not too hard. Just read up comp sci, google the stuff they expect you to know for some interviews and practice reading. But if you were like me, there's no way we'd end up passing those companies who expect several interviews because I think those companies are searching for really smart people. Luckily, I ended up at SCE this summer and learned some useful programming stuff and about how shitty I still am.
In any case, my point is if you're worried, don't worry and just read up on the stuff I mentioned earlier. You'll definitely find a job somewhere. And if you wanna try working on something, I would avoid something like android apps, those honestly require a lot of time and you should be able to be good at programming (specifically OOP) before you even start on those, which I'm not. I've read several blogs and posts about what I should've been doing as a student to find internships or jobs in the future and a lot of it told me to try to work on stuff on my own but again, I have to mention that THAT itself is difficult even if you try. It's faster if you have other people to work with you or you start working in a company or something. A lot of the college classes taught me some stuff but for the most part, I would say it was a big waste of time but that's just the way our world or at least the US is set up to do right now.
Not sure if I mentioned enough useful stuff. Hopefully I did. Meh, no one reads my blogs anyways. It's cool. lol.
